Here’s the deal: we take a song’s past chart performance and current streaming popularity, then combine them into a YMC score. This is the magic behind our rankings.
The YMC formula (simplified)
YMC Score = 100 – (Popularity × wₚ) + (Ranking × wᵣ)
Where:
Popularity = current streaming score (Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music, etc.)
Ranking = historical chart performance
wₚ and wᵣ = weights to balance past and present
In plain English, a song’s YMC score reflects both how much it was loved before and how much people are loving it now. These let forgotten gems rise, viral hits shine, and classic favorites resurface, all in a fair, data-driven way.
